Fruity aromas of red berries; round on the attack, smooth texture, first-class, very fine-grained tannins, good length, the alcohol is noticeable but well cushioned; appealing in the best sense, well balanced, already enjoyable at the table now, even though it will gain with age.

Very deep, vibrant purple in the glass. Fine combination of black cherry and raspberry on the nose. Firm tannins, but these will soften with another two-plus years in bottle. No hurry to drink this impressively structured wine. Plenty of concentration on the palate with a licorice and black olive character on the finish. Lots of fresh acidity—focused, lively. Located on gravelly vineyards over a clay-limestone subsoil. Created in 1759, the estate was named after the Prosecutor for the King of Bordeaux—Jean Laffitte.

A pretty nose of blackcurrants, plums, blueberries, incense and dried spices. Medium-bodied with chewy tannins. Structured, with plenty of black fruit on the palate and a firm yet juicy finish. Cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc. Drink from 2023.

Smoke, chocolate, plums, tobacco and wet earth are easy to find on the nose. On the palate, the wine is fresh, crisp, bright and crunchy with nuances of chocolate, spice and licorice in the savory finish. Drink from 2024-2037.

Darker cherry, plums, dried herbs, and leather notes all emerge from the 2019 Château Laffitte Carcasset, a medium-bodied, relatively chewy, straightforward, yet enjoyable Saint-Estèphe.

The 2019 Laffitte Carcasset is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. Baked blackberries, boysenberries, and kirsch all jump from the glass, followed by wafts of lavender and wood smoke. Medium-bodied, the palate has plush, rounded tannins and plenty of freshness to support the fragrant fruit, finishing with a peppery lift.

The 2019 bouquet shows great definition and precision, with refreshing notes of blueberry and elderberry complemented by a hint of licorice and graphite. Its complexity is a given, but above all the bouquet is highly detailed. A juicy attack opens onto a compact, silky wine, supported by velvety tannins—somewhat suave yet above all powerful. They provide a fine backbone across the palate and can rely on the valuable support of the acid structure, which not only bolsters freshness but also energizes the wine. A mouthwatering wine with a lively, refreshing finish. When charm and tension come together, the result can only be delightful.
