Description
The finesse and complexity of a red wine from Margaux
The estate
Owned by Marie-Laure Lurton, Château La Tour de Bessan originates from an old thirteenth-century tower. Château La Tour de Bessan is now recognizable thanks to its contemporary building designed by Toulouse-based architect Vincent Defos du Rau. Driven by Marie-Laure Lurton's dynamism, the estate has evolved considerably. The vineyard has undergone restructuring, and major decisions have been made regarding cultivation practices. Starting with the 2003 vintage, the vineyard was certified "terra vitis." Château La Tour de Bessan has also equipped itself with state-of-the-art technical facilities, enabling this fine estate to stand out among the finest references of the Margaux appellation by earning the Cru Bourgeois title.
The vineyard
Château La Tour de Bessan is a Margaux wine from a 35-hectare vineyard, with vines averaging 25 years old planted on Pyrenean gravel soils.
Winemaking
Plot selection. Maceration lasting 17 to 22 days. Aging takes place in French oak barrels for a variable duration adapted to the character of the vintage (30% new oak).
Blend
This Château La Tour de Bessan 2022 is a blend of Merlot (49.6%), Cabernet Sauvignon (43.8%), and Petit Verdot (6.6%).
