Description
A full-bodied and delicate white wine from the Rhône Valley
The estate
A true symbol of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the Château La Nerthe is one of the oldest estates in the appellation. Indeed, their stories have been intertwined for five centuries, making Château La Nerthe a historical emblem of the region. Nestled in a lush setting, in a sumptuous Provencal landscape, the magnificent château watches over an exceptional architectural and viticultural heritage. With its cellars dating from the 16th century, its 92-hectare vineyard, its organic farming certification obtained in 1998, the estate embodies here the perfect balance between tradition and innovation. Since 1985, it is the Richard Family who imagines the wines of the estate and who continues to fervently write the history of Château La Nerthe, a heritage magnified by the overflowing ambition of these demanding and innovative actors.
The vineyard
Located in the heart of the Rhône Valley, Château La Nerthe watches over soils of rolled pebbles, sand and clay typical of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This terroir benefits from a Mediterranean microclimate and generous sunshine, ensuring the full maturity of the grapes.
The wine
The Clos de Beauvenir takes its name from the old bastide of the Tulle de Villefranche. Nestled in the old garden of the château, this terroir is sheltered from the wind by majestic plane trees that provide beneficial shade during the day. Its sandy-loamy soils, scattered with rolled pebbles, promote finesse and aromatic expression, while natural springs provide remarkable freshness on the palate. A rare and precious interpretation of the great white wines of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Vinification and aging
The grapes are hand-picked and meticulously sorted on the table before being taken to the press to delicately extract the juice. Once vinified, this Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine benefits from a 9-month aging period.
