Chateau La Fleur de Bouard 2019

Strawberry, sweet cherry, almost like cherry sweets on the nose. Dark fruit on the palate though, quite plummy, which I like. Good density and smooth, gently caressing tannins. There’s clearly power and structure, but it’s well presented with drive. A touch of perfume to the fruit on the palate too. Chewy tannins give a good mouthful with plenty of interest and cooling mint on the finish.

Sweet-berry aromas with hints of chocolate and hazelnut follow through to a medium body with firm, fine tannins and a juicy, polished and fruity finish. Nicely integrated all the way through. Try after 2024.

85% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Petit Verdot. Barrel sample. Zesty and fresh with juicy fruit and a light creamy edge. Some sweetness on the mid-palate, then grainy tannins on the dry finish. Emphasis on drinkability. (JL)

The 2019 La Fleur de Boüard has a vivacious, well-defined bouquet of pure red cherry and wild strawberry scents, with a touch of marmalade and iodine emerging over time. The palate is medium-bodied, fleshy and ripe, with supple tannins and a sensual, concentrated yet never overpowering finish. A lovely Lalande de Pomerol.

Espresso, flowers, cocoa and plums show up nicely on the nose while the palate offers a soft, polished expression of dark cherry, plum and black raspberry notes with a touch of chocolate on the finish. Drink from 2022-2033.

Dark ruby, opaque core, violet tints, delicate bright rim. Discreet, noble wood savoriness, fresh cherries, some liquorice, tobacco nuances, somewhat shy bouquet. Complex, elegant, fine fruit expression, supporting tannins that are well integrated, pleasant freshness, long length, mineral-salty finish, a versatile food wine.

Lots of bright berry fruits, flowers, cedary herbs, and spicy notes emerge from the 2019 Château La Fleur De Boüard, a medium- to full-bodied, pure, elegant, balanced 2019 with supple tannins and a great finish. It’s impeccably made and shows the fresher, pure, elegant style of the vintage.

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 La Fleur de Bouard wafts easily out of the glass with stewed blackberries, mulberries, and fruitcake plus hints of Indian spices and lavender. Big, rich and full, it has firm, rounded tannins and bags of expressive fruit, finishing with a skip in its step.

The nose is fruity, offering power and a lovely fine grain. It reveals notes of wild blackcurrant, ripe blackberry and, more subtly, wild strawberry, combined with a touch of crushed raspberry, small black fruits, a hint of blueberry and cornflower, as well as hints of grey pepper and spices, and a very discreet hint of tobacco. The palate is fruity, balanced, and offers a juicy/slightly tangy framework, precision, and tension. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of fleshy/juicy black cherry, fleshy/juicy blackcurrant and, more slightly, wild raspberry, combined with a touch of fleshy blackberry, as well as fine hints of licorice, wild strawberry, pepper, cocoa, and a very discreet hint of toast and tea. Good length. The tannins are elegant, fine, and structuring.
