A Premier Cru from Pessac-Léognan of remarkable power

The property

Château Haut-Brion, founded in the 16th century by Jean de Pontac, is the oldest of the Grands Crus of Bordeaux, located in Pessac. Since 1935, the Dillon family has been managing it, preserving its heritage and quality. Covering 48 hectares and recognized for its wines of great longevity, Château Haut-Brion was classified Premier Cru in 1855.

The vintage

The 2008 vintage was marked in Pessac-Léognan by a cool and rainy spring, followed by a cool and humid August, thus delaying the maturity of the grape. The harvest, starting later than the previous year, required rigorous vine management. The quality of the soils and the expertise of the winemakers were decisive in producing very good quality red wines.

Vinification and aging

Château Haut-Brion 2008 was aged with 74% new barrels.

Blend

Cabernet sauvignon (50%)
Merlot (41%)
Cabernet franc (9%).
