In this "hot" and promising vintage - in which Guiraud celebrates its 5th year of its organic certification - the conditions from September 7th until October 8th were perfect for picking ripe Semillon and Sauvignon Blancs berries that were well concentrated by botrytis. Quite unusually, conditions were so perfect that the entire crop was harvested within a month. The 2015 Guiraud was crafted with 65% Semillon and 35% Sauvignon. Yellow straw gold, the wine sparkles in the glass, revealing a nice amount of acidity (and thus guaranteeing freshness). The nose is clear and sensual, with a great purity - botrytis cinerea created wonderfully concentrated berries - showing fresh apricot, frangipane, stone fruits like plum, all wrapped in spices such as ginger. The palate of this Sauternes is precise and shows tension from start to finish. The mid-palate is full and rich, but very digestible. The retro-olfaction is spicy. The wine is harmonious, light and tasteful and shows a long finish. Definitely a vintage with a great aging potential.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2015 Guiraud, tasted in two occasions, has a sumptuous bouquet with scents of wild honey, apricot and a faint smear of marmalade. The palate is fresh and tensile on the entry, brimming with energy with impressive energy towards the blood orange and quince-tinged finish. This is a stylish, suave Guiraud that should age beautifully in bottle.
