Light, bright, crisp red fruits abound with an herbal and earthy, lean, simple red plum finish. Springtime in Pomerol. 83 - 85 Pts

Showing the ripe, sexy style of the vintage nicely, the 2015 Pomerol reveals a medium ruby hue as well as exuberant, perfumed notes of red and black fruits, sappy spring flowers, smoked tobacco, dried herbs, and chocolate. With medium-bodied richness, light tannins, and a balanced, fruit-loaded style, it just begs to be drunk over the coming 10-12 years.

Fresh, light bouquet, red berries, red cherries, mint. Light, finely structured palate with light, sweet fruit, fine tannins, sweet aromatics, medium finish. Can still improve. 16/20 2022 - 2035

Wine Enthusiast

R.V.

Still maturing, this wine shows ripe black fruits as well as a lower layer of tannins. Concentration, spice and smokiness are part of a harmonious, balanced wine, full bodied and with a good future. Drink from 2021.

Description

The balance and richness of a great Pomerol wine

The property

Located northwest of Pomerol, the Château de Sales is a historic property on the right bank of Bordeaux, belonging to the same family for over five centuries. The Lambert heirs and their children now oversee the destiny of this iconic property producing great Pomerol wines.

The vineyard

With an area of 47.60 hectares, the Château de Sales vineyard is thus the largest in the Pomerol appellation.

The vintage

The warm and dry climate from late May to mid-June promotes homogeneous flowering. Particularly dry, July is punctuated at the end of the month by rainy episodes unlocking the maturities. The significant thermal variations between day and night during August, as well as the coolness of September, ensure good grape maturation.

Vinification and aging

The aging is carried out in new barrels (5%) and barrels of 1 to 3 years (95%).

Blend

Merlot (82%)
Cabernet-sauvignon (9%)
Cabernet-franc (9%).
