Chateau Clos de Bouard 2016

Bordeaux - Montagne-Saint-Emilion - Red Chateau Clos de Bouard Chateau Clos de Bouard 2016 2155/16
  • Parker : 91-93

A Montagne Saint-Emilion with beautiful aromas

Chateau Clos de Bouard 2016 is Coralie de Bouard’s first vintage (Chateau La Fleur de Bouard) as the new owner, starting in 2016. A total success, for her first try, this vintage grew under incredible weather conditions. Chateau Clos de Bouard is 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The Montagne Saint-Emilion has a beautifully deep color. The nose is intense with red fruits (strawberries and cherries) accompanied by notes of smokiness, sweet spices, and flowers from the Merlot. On the palate, the wine is harmonious, charming, fruity and full bodied. The tannins are elegantly balanced. The finish is long and fresh. Chateau Clos de Bouard 2016 is very agreeable to drink, this wine also shows great potential for aging.

Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2016 Clos de Bouõrd is the Montagne Saint-Emilion property owned by Coralie de Boüard and her husband, Loïc Maillet, Coralie already with winemaking experience under her belt having run La Fleur de Boüard in Lalande-de-Pomerol. It was previously known as Tour Musset and owned by Castel. It has a pretty bouquet with tightly wound minerally scents with touches of licorice filtering through with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, crisp acidity, quite linear and taut in style with pencil lead and tobacco notes lending complexity towards the classically styled finish. I appreciate both the freshness and the cerebral nature of this 2016, one that will age with style.
