A vintage with two chapters marked by extreme climatic contrasts, 2018 resulted in a homogeneous ripening of the grape varieties. The technical teams with their hard work managed to get the best results from the vines, with an exceptional grape harvests of perfectly healthy fruit.
Blending Merlot (85%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (15%), the Chateau Clinet 2018 is certainly in line with the most exceptional vintages of the estate. At the tasting, this vintage reveals a dark ruby color. A complex and expressive aromatic bouquet reveals a palette full of red and black berries, mixed with peppery and smoky notes. The attack immediately reveals the gourmet personality of the vintage, with a deliciously creamy texture, savory notes of red and black fruits, along with spicy and vanilla touches. The soft side of the palate is balanced by the dense structure of the tannins, testifying to the presence of magnificent Cabernet Sauvignon. Displaying the signature style of the property, the Chateau Clinet 2018 boasts the power of the 2016 and the fire of the 2015. An exceptional vintage, the Chateau Clinet 2018 can be appreciated in its youth but also presents an exceptional potential for age.
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 Clinet begins a little coy and then, with coaxing, opens out to vibrant black cherries, kirsch, baked plums and cinnamon stick scents with hints of cloves and anise plus earthy truffles and fungi wafts. Full-bodied and chock-full of bright, energetic fruit, it has a firm, finely grained structure and long, fragrant finish. The blend is 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aging is anticipated to last for 16 months in French oak barriques, 75% new.
