Description

An aromatic and silky red wine from Pomerol

The estate

Located in the heart of the Pomerol appellation, Château Clinet, with its famous gravel plots, is one of the most beautiful references of the Pomerol appellation. This property on the right bank of Bordeaux was acquired in 1999 by the Laborde family.

The vineyard

A benchmark among the fine Pomerol wines, Château Clinet watches over an exceptional 10.2-hectare vineyard that is poised on a clay and gravel soil. The vineyard is managed using sustainable agricultural practices.

The vintage

Although bud break was early, the vegetative development was slowed down by an overcast spring and early summer. The mild conditions thereafter were ideal for refining the ripeness of the grapes until the harvest.

Vinification and ageing

Manual sorting followed by light crushing. Vinification by plot in "Galiléo" vats without pumping over and thermo-regulated stainless steel vats, along with manual punching down to encourage a gentle extraction. The wine is aged for approximately 16 months in barrels (80% new, 20% second-fill barrels).

The blend

Merlot (75%)

Cabernet Sauvignon (25%).

Château Clinet 2021: Characteristics and tasting tips

The tasting

Colour

The colour is a deep ruby.

Nose

Expressive, the nose blends ripe fruit (raspberry, blackcurrant, blackcurrant) and floral fragrances with savoury notes of oriental spices.

Palate

Soft and aromatic, the palate is seduced by this wine’s silky tannins, its precision and its harmonious persistence.
