Description
The Finesse and Balance of a Grand Cru Classe from Graves
Masterfully managed by the three Perrin siblings - Eric, Philibert and their sister Christine Lescuyer - the Grand Cru Classe of Graves Chateau Carbonnieux has become one of the biggest names in the Pessac-Leognan appellation, located in the south of the Bordeaux region.
2017 will certainly remain a landmark year in the history of Chateau Carbonnieux. This vintage marks the receipt of the Label HVE 3 (High Environmental Value of level 3) certification for the vineyard with an exceptional terroir, located at the top of a beautiful gravel ridge, where green fertilizer was sown to ensure good soil health by promoting natural ventilation. 2017 will also be remembered for the frost at the end of April, which did not spare the Chateau Carbonnieux estate.
Thanks to the careful attention paid by the dedicated team to the important work in the vineyard, the Chateau has managed to get the very best out of a vintage classified as a "winemaker’s vintage". The First Wine of the Chateau, the Chateau Carbonnieux red 2017 is the result of a rigorous selection of the best fruit.
The blend, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon (65%), and supplemented by Merlot (25%), Cabernet Franc (5%) and Petit Verdot (5%), reveals the very high quality of the fruit, full of anthocyanins and presenting an optimal balance of sugar and acidity, without over-ripening. Bursting with freshness, the Chateau Carbonnieux red 2017 displays a very expressive aromatic bouquet, with rich aromas of small red berries. On the palate, the attack is delicious, and offers a soft texture on the mid-palate, along with a seductive feel whose softness and density stretch toward a finish of beautiful aromatic persistence. A Chateau Carbonnieux full of charm, from a vintage marked by great finesse.
