Description
An aromatic and fresh Haut-Medoc wine
The estate
Located in the Haut-Medoc appellation, this former 18th-century hunting lodge has become one of the most beautiful wine estates in Bordeaux. Chateau Belgrave belongs to the Compagnie des Vins de Bordeaux et de la Gironde (CVBG).
The vineyard
Owned by CVBG since 1979, Chateau Belgrave is a Haut-Medoc wine that is made from a 59-hectare single-block vineyard, 95% identical to the one classified in 1855. In the heart of the Medoc, these exceptional vines are planted on two deep gravelly hilltops and rest upon a clay and sandy-clay subsoil.
The blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (65%)
Merlot (30%)
Petit Verdot (5%)
Chateau Belgrave 2021: Characteristics and tasting tips
The tasting
Color
This wine showcases a beautiful inky color, almost black, with purple highlights.
Nose
The nose gives off fresh, peppery and fruity (black fruit) fragrances.
Palate
The attack is lively and ample. Powerful and with a beautiful tension, the palate is seduced by this wine’s tannic structure, its velvety feel and its elegance. The finish is persistent and reveals delicious spicy notes.
