Vinum

Fruity, playful, smooth, with a raspberry jelly finish.

Robert Parker

Lisa Perrotti-Brown

Medium garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Chapelle de Potensac offers up cheery, uncomplicated scents of black raspberries, Bing cherries and stewed plums with hints of fallen leaves, bouquet garni and pencil lead. Medium-bodied, the soft-textured palate has lovely purity with loads of red berry and dried herbs flavors and a refreshing finish.

Decanter

This shows attractive raspberry and redcurrant fruit as it opens, with soft, well-integrated tannins, while the acidity is nicely fresh.

James Suckling

Blackberry, mushroom and earthy notes on the nose. It is full-bodied with elegant tannins and a savory, juicy texture in the mouth, leading to a flavorful finish. Lightly juicy. A tiny bit hollow in the middle palate now, but nicely done. Better after 2022, when it will have filled in.

The 2018 Chapelle de Potensac has a light, earthy bouquet that just needs to show a little more fruit; it feels backward and a bit introspective at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, light tannins and a very subtle herbaceous note toward the finish. Enjoy this easygoing Saint-Julien over the next 4–5 years.

Looking first at the second wine of the estate, the 2018 Chapelle De Potensac has an already complex nose of red and black currants, green tobacco, cedarwood, and spring flowers. This carries to an endearing, supple, seamless Médoc with light tannins, a rounded, balanced mouthfeel, and a great finish. Want a classic Bordeaux you don't have to wait a decade on? Give this beauty a whirl.

Delicate, fresh bouquet with spicy and fruity notes, showing nuances of black berries and pepper. Juicy, moreish character on the palate. The wine is elegant, inviting, and perfectly balanced. As on the nose, the finish is refreshing and fruity. A flavorful wine to enjoy for its fruit in its youth.

The nose is fruity, fresh, lively and gourmand, offering minerality as well as fine concentration. There are notes of fresh/ripe blackberry, fresh/ripe blackcurrant and, more subtly, red fruits, combined with a delicate touch of blueberry and flowers, as well as discreet hints of licorice and nutmeg. The palate is fruity and balanced, with a lovely mineral backbone, fleshiness, juiciness, indulgence and a fine tang. On the palate, this wine reveals notes of juicy blackberry and juicy blackcurrant, and more subtly ripe/juicy raspberry, combined with fine touches of tonka bean, licorice and spices, as well as delicate hints of chocolate and a very discreet hint of sweet blond tobacco (in the background). The tannins are well handled. A very fine hint of dried almond appears on the finish/persistence.

Logo on the cork: DIAM5 Dark color, medium intensity and showing some evolution. Moderately aromatic nose, softer than at times. Flavorful, precise, and pleasant palate, with just enough tannic structure on the finish to make your mouth water. Medium body and length.
