Description
The Subtly Spicy Bouquet of a Provence Rosé
Located halfway between the Massif des Maures mountain range and the Mediterranean Sea, Domaine Saint-Andre de Figuiere extends over 210 acres of vines, surrounded by pine forests and cork oaks. The Combard family has been managing the estate for over a half century, blending traditional methods with novel winemaking techniques. Having practiced organic agriculture since 1979, the estate's vineyards are now certified organic by ECOCERT. The Premiere Rose is produced from vines of Mourvedre, Cinsault and Grenache, planted on schist soils veined with white quartz in the AOP Cotes de Provence appelation. The grape varietals are harvested and vinified separately, desteemed and cooled before a slow pressing at low pressure. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats before the wines are fined and blended, then cooled a final time in order to avoid the formation of sediments.
The Domaine Saint-André de Figuiere Premiere Rosé 2017 is an extremely delicate rose, displaying a pale and limpid pink color in the glass. On the nose, this organic rosé wine expressive an intense bouquet typical of Provence, with aromas of spicy citrus fruits, apricots and white peaches, pineapple and hints of black pepper. On the palate, the wine is very generous, exuding strawberries and spice, consistent with the nose. The finish is very persistent and harmonious, offering a mouth-watering saline touch.
