As a passionate lover of wine, Michel Tardieu runs Maison Tardieu-Laurent, a prominent negoicant firm, from Lourmarin, in the heart of his native Provence. Establishing cellars in the 15th-16th century chateau in the late 1990s, Tardieu, and his then partner Dominique Laurent, a negoicant from Burgundy, set down roots to create close relationships with some of the most prestigious growers in the Rhone Valley. Now completely under Tardieu’s rein, Maison Tardieu-Laurent has become a family operation, Michel, his wife Michele, and their two children Bastien and Camille, work together to build a reputation of quality and expression of terroir. The Tardieus work with 60 to 70 vignerons throughout the Northern Rhone Valley and Southern Rhone Valley. They bottle wines of predominately Syrah and Grenache, under the Cotes du Rhone appellation and from the noble appellations of Saint Peray, Condrieu, Hermitage, Crozes Hermitage, Saint Joseph, Cornas, and Cote Rotie in the Northern Rhone, and Vacqueyras, Gigondas, and Chateauneuf du Pape in the Southern Rhone Valley.
