The estate
Located in the north of Médoc, on the hill of Saint-Estèphe, the Château Cos d’Estournel appears majestically. Like a true Maharajah's palace, the château and its pagodas surprise and captivate the eye. In 1791, Louis-Gaspard d’Estournel inherited hectares of vineyards and built the estate. An adventurer who had travelled the world, his taste for exoticism and the Orient gave Château Cos d’Estournel its unique architecture in the Médoc. Owned by Michel Reybier since 2000, Château Cos d’Estournel continues to shine in the Saint-Estèphe appellation and joins the lineage of the world's greatest wines by distinguishing itself with its unique style where the taste for beauty and excellence is a constant quest.
The vineyard
A reference among the great wines of Saint-Estèphe, Château Cos d’Estournel enjoys an exceptional geographical location. Indeed, its vineyard is located on the edge of a plateau, in the immediate vicinity of the Gironde estuary. The vineyard thus benefits from a maritime climate while being protected from bad weather. The vines are planted on two slopes and a central plateau, benefiting from an ideal exposure and good ventilation.
The second wine of Château Cos d’Estournel, Pagodes de Cos white is a dry white Bordeaux wine made from a terroir located at the end of the Gironde estuary and whose oldest vines are 38 years old.
