    Description

A robust and rustic red wine from Minervois

    The producer

Domaine de la Borie Blanche is situated in the heart of the lauded Minervois appellation of Languedoc in France. The estate is named after the small stone shelters (called bories), which were built by winemakers while first clearing these rocky slopes. Nicolas and Miren de Lorgeril of Maison Lorgeril purchased the estates parcels in 1999, acquiring the domaine fully in 2001, creating a new estate and optimizing the viticultural techniques used to best suit the estate's signature schist terroir.

    The vineyard

The Domaine de la Borie Blanche Terroirs d'Altitude 2019 comes from a vineyard shaped like a large natural amphitheater, facing south, in the Minervois appellation of the France's Languedoc region. Just 30-60 km from the sea, the climate here is Mediterranean. The vines stretch their roots deep into schist soils, at an altitude of 400 meters above sea level. The vineyard is certified High Environmental Value Level 3.

    Vinification and aging

Following a manual harvest, the grapes undergo cold maceration, followed by partial carbonic maceration in a gentle winemaking process. The various plots of fruit are fermented separately in oak barrels and concrete. The wines are blended for maturation before they are bottled.

    The blend

The Domaine de la Borie Blanche Terroirs d'Altitude 2019 is made from a blend of 60% Syrah, 30% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre.

    The tasting

The Domaine de la Borie Blanche Terroirs d'Altitude 2019 is a concentrated and robust wine, with a core bouquet of red and black fruits, complemented with earthy nuances of mountain shrubs and pepper on the nose. On the palate, this wine reveals muscular tannins of great body and length.

    Food and wine pairing

This rustic Minervois wine will pair beautifully with roast venison, duck dishes or cheese.
