A sun-filled Pauillac second wine combining power and freshness
The estate
Officially founded in 1716 by Alexandre de Ségur, Château Latour is a Premier Grand Cru Classé of 1855 located in Pauillac, in the heart of Bordeaux’s Médoc. Owned by François Pinault’s Artémis group since 1993, the estate embodies rare continuity and consistent quality. Les Forts de Latour, created in 1966, is the estate’s second wine and draws its character from the property’s exceptional terroirs.
The vineyard
Les Forts de Latour is crafted from plots located at the heart of the Grands Crus Classés of Pauillac. The historic lieux-dits of Petit-Batailley and Saint-Anne form its backbone, complemented by vines near the Enclos, young plantings, as well as a 7-hectare plot located in Artigues.
The vintage
The 2020 vintage stands out for its particularly contrasted weather conditions. Generous spring rainfall and abundant rains in August framed a long period of summer drought, with no fewer than 53 consecutive days of virtually no precipitation between June and July. This alternation of climatic conditions shaped a wine of great harmony, combining power and freshness.
Winemaking and aging
Les Forts de Latour 2020 was aged in oak barrels, around 60% of which are new, ensuring harmonious integration of the wood and fine aromatic depth.
Grape varieties
The blend is predominantly cabernet-sauvignon, accounting for 69.7% of the cuvée, complemented by 26.7% merlot and 3.7% petit verdot.
