The elegance and richness of a great white wine from the Rhône Valley
The estate
Based in the Rhône Valley, the Chave family has been growing vines since 1481. Originally established on the slopes of Saint-Joseph, the estate expanded onto the hill of Hermitage in the late 19th century. Today, Gérard and his son Jean-Louis Chave run this family estate. A true benchmark, the domaine is renowned for its respectful approach to viticulture and meticulous plot-by-plot blending, producing wines of rare precision.
The vineyard
The vineyard lies on the steep slopes of the Hermitage hill. The vines dedicated to white wines are mainly located on the prestigious terroirs of Rocoules, L'Ermite and Péléat. This distinctive terroir offers great geological diversity, combining loess, clay and limestone soils that are ideal for white grape varieties to flourish. Tended with the utmost care, this terraced vineyard requires exclusively manual work.
Winemaking and aging
The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness. Vinification is carried out plot by plot. Aging takes place in oak barrels and vats, preserving freshness and the pure expression of the fruit before the final blending of the various lieux-dits, the true signature of the estate.
Grape varieties
Marsanne, Roussanne.
