Description
The elegance of an iconic Second Wine from Saint-Julien
As the second wine born in the 1960s from the iconic Fourth Great Classified Growth Chateau Talbot, the Connetable de Talbot is one of the pioneers in the Medoc on the Left Bank of the Bordeaux region. Vintage after vintage, this great wine from the renowed Saint-Julien appellation has become a vintage with a personality in its own right. Reflecting all the typicity of the appellation and elaborated with the same attention as that given to the first wine, the Connetable de Talbot displays the elegance that gives Saint-Julien its charm.
As a year of many challenges, 2017 will be remembered due to the frosts that hit at the end of April. From an estate with an exceptional vineyard, the Connetable de Talbot 2017 illustrates with panache the success of the technical team that was able to extract the best from this vintage.
The majority of Chateau Talbot's vineyard was spared from the frosts, and the grapes reached optimal ripeness. Up until the harvest, 2017 had many ups and downs. The harvest started on September 18 and finished on October 4, 2017. The berries were in excellent health at a prime ripeness and had an ideal balance between sugar and acidity.
Coming from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (54%) and Merlot (46%), the Connetable de Talbot 2017 suggests the the potential for a very great vintage.
