A 4th Classified Growth of Saint-Julien, Chateau Talbot is one of the most iconic references of the Medoc. Acquired by Desire Cordier in 1918, Chateau Talbot is today managed by Nancy Bignon-Cordier and her husband, Jean-Paul Bignon.
Situated in the heart of the appellation, Chateau Talbot 2021 is a Saint-Julien wine that stems from a 93.8-hectares single-block vineyard. These vines, which are 41 years old on average, enjoy an ideal location on the banks of the Gironde estuary and rest on ridges of Medoc gravel and alluvial deposits.
Vinification and aging
The grapes are harvested by hand and then sorted (manually and optically) before being vinified in wooden vats. The wine is aged for 15 months in barrels, 60% of which are new.
Chateau Talbot 2021 comprises a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (71%), Merlot (24%) and Petit Verdot (5%).
