The 8.5 hectares of this Premier Cru Classé of Sauternes created a wine of aromatic uniqueness and good concentration. The pretty sparkling golden yellow hue opens up for an exemplary aromatic finesse. The very expressive aromatic palette pleases immediately with its notes of verbena, confit lemons and ripe tangerine. With aeration the wine reveals more citrus notes than the qualities of exotic fruits. The palate is balanced and offers lifted freshness layered over a pure and concentrated richness. The retro-olfaction of verbena is quite appealing. The whole gives a liqueur of great depth and digestibility. A success! A great Clos Haut-Peyraguey 2015.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2015 Clos Haut Peyraguey is a blend of 95% Semillon and 5% Sauvignon Blanc, cropped at just 14 hectoliters per hectare between September 7 and October 15. It has a perfumed and quite floral bouquet with dried yellow flowers intermixed with dried honey and quince aromas. The palate is very well balanced with pure botrytised fruit, not the most complex Sauternes of the vintage, but tensile with a citrus-fresh, blood orange-tinged finish. Enjoy this over the next 5-25 years.
