Description
The expression of the great Pomerol terroir in a superb vintage ending in -9
The estate
Owned by the Bourotte-Audy family, the Clos du Clocher estate is located in the heart of the Pomerol plateau. Like a “marvelous garden” surrounded by low walls, Clos du Clocher represents an essential reference for the great wines of Pomerol, known for its assertive and unique style.
The vineyard
The Clos du Clocher vineyard covers 5.90 hectares of vines aged 33 years on average. Located on the Pomerol plateau, across from the church, the vineyard enjoys an exceptional setting. The Clos du Clocher vines are planted in clay-loam soils resting on blue clay and deep gravel subsoils. Committed to an environmental policy, the vineyard is cultivated with methods of sustainable viticulture.
The winemaking
Temperature-controlled stainless steel and cement tanks and small capacity tanks. Plot vinification.
The aging
18 months in French oak barrels (2/3 new barrels and 1/3 barrels of one previous wine).
The tasting
The wines of Clos du Clocher are a sure bet from the Pomerol appellation. They elegantly and accurately express the richness and opulence of Merlot through delicious notes of black fruit, violet and truffle. Cabernet Franc brings spicy, minty and tobacco notes, full of freshness. Faithful to the reputation of Pomerol wines, Clos du Clocher is a wine with a great potential for age.
