The Wine Independent

Lisa Perrotti-Brown

A blend of 60% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Petit Verdot, the 2015 Simard is medium to deep garnet in color. It flies out of the glass with up-front notes of baked blackberries, stewed plums, and boysenberry preserves, plus touches of menthol, spice cake, and tobacco leaf. Medium-bodied, the palate is bright, lifted and refreshing with lightly chewy tannins and a long savory finish.

Yves Beck

Garnet red with violet highlights. Complex, multi-faceted fruity bouquet. Pleasant notes of blackberry and blackcurrant. Lush, creamy attack. On the palate, the wine is balanced, indulgent, and fruity. Beautiful harmony between the finely grained tannins and the structure that supports the fruit. Fruity, persistent finish where I find the blackcurrant notes again.

Logo on the cork: A in a circle (Amorim) Intense, vivid color. Moderately aromatic nose with fresh fruit and a hint of undergrowth. Soft on the attack, savory, then slender, with flavor and bright fruit; the wine finishes a touch austere on the aftertaste while remaining long.
