A great, fresh, and complex wine from Pauillac
The Estate
5th Grand Cru Classé of Pauillac, Château Pontet-Canet has enjoyed an irresistible rise that has made it one of the most iconic names in the Médoc. Led by Justine and Alfred Tesseron, Château Pontet-Canet has established itself as one of the pioneers of biodynamics in the Pauillac appellation, with results exceeding all expectations. Vintage after vintage, the estate stands out as one of the finest references on Bordeaux's Left Bank.
The Vineyard
A benchmark among the great wines of Pauillac, Château Pontet-Canet oversees vines tended with the utmost respect for the environment. They are worked using horses to avoid soil compaction. Biodynamics is practiced throughout the estate. Through their expertise and deep knowledge of the vineyard, the property's technical teams help the vines give the very best of themselves.
The Vintage
Ensuring an ideal replenishment of water reserves, the particularly wet and mild winter was also marked by mild temperatures favoring rapid budbreak across the vineyard. This early start was subsequently slowed by cool, humid conditions. The weather changed in early July, giving way to three hot, dry months leading up to the harvest, which began on September 28 for the Merlot and October 4 for the Cabernet Sauvignon.
Blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (65%)
Merlot (30%)
Cabernet Franc (3%)
Petit Verdot (2%).
