Description
The freshness and aromatic intensity of a Pessac-Leognan white wine
The estate
Nestled in a vast forest not far from Leognan in the Bordeaux region, Chateau Olivier boasts a very rich legacy, reflected in its medieval architecture. The estate has been owned by the Bethmann family since 1886, who have invested significantly in both the vineyard and the winery.
The vineyard
A benchmark among fine Pessac-Leognan wines, Chateau Olivier watches over a 52-hectare vineyard dedicated to red grape varieties. Since 2016, this estate boasts the HVE level 3 and Iso 14001 certificates.
The vintage
A mild and rainy winter favored an early, even and regular budburst. The frosts on April 7th and 8th had little impact on the vineyard. The relatively cool and wet spring conditions slowed down the vegetative cycle. Flowering took place in hot and dry weather conditions. Between mid-June and mid-July, thunderstorms and heavy rainfall led to strong mildew pressure, which was maintained thanks to the diligence of the estate's teams. The particularly dry conditions in August caused an ideal water stress which ensured the progressive and optimal ripening of the grapes.
The blend
Sauvignon Blanc (80%)
Semillon (20%).
