Ripe, showing a rare fresh edge in this vintage, with a mix of cherry compote and damson plum notes working well together, while red licorice, fruitcake and singed apple wood accents fill in through the finish. A heady nose, seductive, rich and deep with savoury truffle elements. Lovely definition on the palate, high-toned, quite bright red fruit with a creamy, chalky texture. You can feel the depth on the tongue: this is a powerful wine with clear oak and liquorice spicing. Well presented with a beautiful gourmet quality to the fruit and smooth, grippy tannins. Suave and confident.

Currants, plums, purple flowers and potpourri on the nose. Medium-bodied with fine, creamy tannins. Juicy and succulent with a chewy, red-fruited finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink from 2024.

The 2019 Mazeyres has a really lovely, understated bouquet for the vintage, with blackberry, warm gravel and light loamy scents gradually unfurling. The palate is medium-bodied and fresh on the entry, with fine-grained tannins, well-judged acidity, and discreet hints of truffle and dark chocolate lending complexity on the finish. This is a classy, very appealing Pomerol that will give 15–20 years of pleasure.

Much better in the bottle than it was in the barrel, the wine shows off its red fruits, spice box, espresso, leafy herb, plum and cherry core with little effort. Soft, silky and fresh, with loads of sweet, fresh, refined, pure red fruits with touches of cocoa on the palate and in the back end, this is already quite nice to drink, yet it will only get better from here. Dark ruby, purple reflections, delicate edge brightening. Subtle red-berry nuances, a fine touch of liquorice, red currant, still a very shy bouquet. Medium body, fine fruit sweetness, Margaux-esque texture, ripe tannins, delicate nougat on the finish, remains persistent, will benefit from bottle ageing.

Medium deep garnet colour. Fine perfume of wild berries, kirsch, pain d’épice and mild oak notes. The palate is fluid and digest, with good volume, grainy tannins, elegant fruit and a rounded texture leading to a long, warm finish.

A beautiful, complex, elegant Pomerol, the 2019 Château Mazeyres has lots of black raspberry, ripe cherry, spring flower, and leafy herb notes in its medium-bodied, seamless, nicely balanced profile. It's going to shine for 15 years or so.

Raspberry, blueberry, cappuccino and liquorice bud deliver a gourmand, fruit-forward kick as the wine opens on the palate, with appealingly plump fruit and gentle grilled earth notes. This is always an enjoyable Pomerol, not as concentrated as some but with balance and juiciness. Harvested from September 12 to October 3, farmed biodynamically since 2012. Aged 50% in barrels, 20% in 7hl concrete tanks, 20% in amphoras, 10% in oak casks. Alain Moueix director, with the Guillard family – also at Fonroque and Grand Barrail – new owners since September 2020 (thus overseeing the ageing and bottling of this wine).

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2019 Mazeyres opens with baked plums, blackberry preserves, and crushed rocks scents with wafts of mossy tree bark and cardamom. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has firm, rounded tannins supporting the substantial black fruits, finishing with understated earth and savory sparks.

Fine tannins, neatly wrapped in well-formed flesh, weave through an elegant, concentrated body, lifted by delicate floral notes and a freshness that energizes the finish. A very beautiful style imbued with very subtle freshness

Mazeyres’ bouquet is fruity and nicely intense. The ageing shows through cocoa nuances, but it doesn’t dominate and complements the olfactory complexity. Inviting notes of red berries, blackberries and anise. On the palate, while elegant, the wine has both body and freshness. The tannins are well integrated and provide solid backbone. A wine that combines charm and character.

A delicious, suave palate with a juicy, caressing body, bright flavor definition, good structure, and a tasty, sappy finish. Very good. A fine outsider. Blend: 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc.
