The estate
Under the aegis of the Bonnie family, the progress of the majestic Château Malartic-Lagravière has been spectacular. This Graves Grand Cru Classé boasts an exceptional location, with a vineyard superbly situated on a gravelly hilltop. Equipped with state-of-the-art technical facilities, Château Malartic-Lagravière radiates throughout the appellation with white and red wines that stand out among the finest in Pessac-Léognan.
The vineyard
Château Malartic-Lagravière blanc 2022 is a Pessac-Léognan wine made from 7 hectares of vines, out of a total of 73 hectares in production. The vines, which are an average of 28 years old, are planted on dry gravel and clay soils, using integrated farming methods and are certified to level 3 of High Environmental Value. The subsoil is made up of shell limestone and veins of clay.
The vintage
2022 was marked by extreme weather conditions, with spring frosts followed by drought and heatwaves in the summer. In the face of this, the estate’s knowledge of the terroir and the rigour of its teams made it possible to maintain the health of the vineyards.
Winemaking and ageing
Harvested by hand in successive selections. Slow, inert pressing. Fermentation takes place in barrels, as does ageing (50% of which in new wood) on fine lees with stirring of the lees.
Blend
Sauvignon Blanc (76%)
Sémillon (24%).
Tasting
Despite an early start to the harvest, the grapes are impressively ripe and well-structured. Finesse, aromatic purity, elegance and freshness are the main characteristics of this Pessac-Léognan white wine.
