The Grand Vin of Chateau Lanessan, a magnificent property located in the Haut-Medoc, on the left bank of Bordeaux, the Chateau Lanessan 2018 shines as one of the most beautiful references of its appellation.
A year of contrasts, 2018 took place in two stages. Following a rainy winter and spring, the threat of mildew was very strong. A beautiful summer began in July, bringing plenty of sunshine. High daily temperatures and cool nights favored the perfect ripening of the fruit. The harvest began on September 24 and ended on October 16, 2018 with grapes rich in color and beautiful fruity aromas. The quality of the tannins was remarkable and very ripe. The grapes had a remarkable balance of sugar / acidity.
A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (52%), Merlot (42%) and Petit Verdot (6%), the Chateau Lanessan 2018 is aged in French oak barrels for 12 months (1/3 of new barrels, 1/3 of barrels of one previous wine and 1/3 of barrels of two previous wines).
At the tasting, the Chateau Lanessan 2018 reveals a dark plum-colored dress, shimmering with violet reflections. The intensely aromatic nose opens with notes of candied black fruits, cherry and kirsch, with beautiful floral notes evoking rose. Fresh woody and roasted notes then appear when the wine is swirled, along with spicy notes. Beautiful mineral notes appear next. The very fresh and harmonious finish stretches on for a long time at the end. Offering a superb expression of the great terroirs of Haut-Medoc, the Chateau Lanessan 2018 is destined for a remarkable evolution through age.
