James Lawther MW

60% Sauvignon Blanc, 40% Sémillon. 25 hl/ha. Cask sample. Citrus and tropical-fruit notes. Full, fleshy palate with lively acidity. More accessible than the 2022 at this stage. (JL)

Lemongrass, white peaches, lemon rind, and flowers create the complex aromatics here. Vibrant, crisp, and citrusy, with a touch of crushed stone adding complexity, this is good to go on release. The wine blends 60% Sauvignon Blanc with 40% Semillon. Drink from 2025–2032. 92 pts.

Le Figaro Vin

Score: 87–89. The freshness of a spring meadow, a basket of sweet citrus, and more rustic notes of mint, basil, and tarragon contribute to an energetic bouquet, as does the palate, particularly taut.

Description

Characteristics and tasting advice for Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey Bordeaux Blanc Sec 2023

Tasting

This vintage seduces with its freshness, elegance and creamy touch conferred by barrel aging.

The vivacity and refinement of a dry white wine from Bordeaux

The property

First Grand Cru Classé of Sauternes in 1855, the Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is one of the most prestigious names in the emblematic sweet wine appellation located south of the Bordeaux region. This very ancient wine estate, whose origins date back to the 12th century, has gone through the ages with brilliance and prestige. Beyond its famous Sauternes sweet wine, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey demonstrates its great know-how with a great dry white wine from Bordeaux.

The vineyard

Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey 2023 is a dry white Bordeaux wine from a 1.47 hectare vineyard. Conducted in reasoned agriculture, this terroir is composed of a silico-gravelly and clay-gravelly soil.

Vinification and aging

Fermentation of 10 days in barrels, just like the aging of a duration of 6 months.

Blend

Sauvignon blanc (60%)
Sémillon (40%).
