Tasting characteristics and tips for Château La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc 2025
Tasting
Appearance
The wine reveals a delicate pale yellow hue, enhanced by subtle greenish nuances.
Nose
Generous and concentrated, the bouquet opens with aromas of white flowers, lilac and mango.
Palate
Combining richness and finesse, the palate offers a broad and generous attack. It unfolds delicious notes of blood orange, grapefruit and beeswax, underpinned by lovely freshness as well as delicate tannins.
Food and wine pairings
This white wine pairs wonderfully with seafood and shellfish such as lobster, crab or oysters, as well as with sushi. It also elegantly accompanies roasted white meats or those served in creamy sauces, such as veal or poultry, and enhances Asian dishes subtly spiced with ginger or lemongrass.
Serving and cellaring
For optimal enjoyment of this 2025 vintage, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of around 15°C. While it can be enjoyed in its youth, this wine, crafted for ageing, will reveal its full potential over the coming decades.
The elegance and complexity of a great white wine from Pessac-Léognan
The estate
The history of the estate begins in 1540 with the acquisition of land by Arnaud de Lestonnac. Located in the Bordeaux region, the property was bequeathed to the priests of the Mission in 1664. Acquired in 1983 by the Dillon family, already owners of the famous Château Haut-Brion, the estate has undergone remarkable modernisation. Today, Prince Robert of Luxembourg presides over the destiny of this historic vineyard, perpetuating a centuries-old tradition of excellence while integrating sustainable environmental practices.
The vineyard
Located at the heart of the Pessac-Léognan appellation, the vineyard devotes a small portion of its land to white grape varieties. The vines flourish on a superb terrace of deep gravels resting on a subsoil of clay, sand and limestone. This terroir benefits from optimal natural drainage thanks to its hillock topography and a network of small streams. The estate practises sustainable viticulture, encouraging biodiversity through the planting of hedgerows, the use of natural compost and the protection of the soils.
The vintage
The 2025 year was marked by a more temperate growing season than the previous ones. A mild and wet winter promoted an early budburst, marking the start of a complex vegetative cycle. Fortunately, particularly favourable late-season weather allowed perfect balance to be achieved, giving the berries exceptional freshness and aromatic concentration.
Winemaking and ageing
Ageing takes place in oak barrels (including 31% new barrels). Alcohol: 14.5% vol.
Grape varieties
Sémillon (64.5%) and Sauvignon Blanc (35.5%).
