Description

An intense and aromatic white Graves Grand Cru Classe

The estate

A neighbour of the illustrious Chateau Haut-Brion, Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion has served for centuries as one of the most iconic references of Bordeaux. Founded in the 16th century by the Lestonnac family, the property was then managed by the Lazarist priests. Now belonging to the Clarence Dillon estates and Prince Robert of Luxembourg, Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion continues to shine as one the greatest chateaux in the world.

The vineyard

Located in the municipalities of Talence and Pessac, Chateau la Mission Haut-Brion is classified under the Pessac-Leognan appellation. The Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion vineyard covers 29 hectares of vines, 25 of which are dedicated to red grape varieties and 4 to white grape varieties. The vineyards of Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion are planted in beautiful gravelly soils resting upon a subsoil of clay, sand, limestone and faluns (a shelly limestone).

The vintage

While winter and spring were marked by heavy rainfall, drought set in at the beginning of summer. The operations of the teams at the chateau were limited so as to protect the vines from the sun. Even though maturity was very early, these high temperatures, accompanied by a significant water deficit, slowed down vine growth and tempered its advance. Through picking the grapes only in the mornings and transport to the wine cellar being refrigerated, the harvests preserved the fully ripe aroma of the harvested grapes. The 2020 vintage unveiled concentrated and beautifully fresh wines.

Blend

The white Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion 2020 is made of a blend of Sauvignon Blanc (54.7%) and Semillon (45.3%).

Tasting

Color

The wine is a beautiful, pale yellow color.

Nose

Intense and aromatic, the nose mixes notes of white peach and apricot pulp.

Palate

If the attack is abundant, the palate unveils a rich and fruity, aromatic palate. The lingering finish mixes subtle lemony notes with a beautiful salinity. This white Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion 2020 charms with its balance between structure, acidity and aromatic character.
