Description

The style of a great Pomerol red wine

The property
Owned by the Raynaud-Lebreton family and with origins dating back to 1477, the Château La Fleur de Gay is located on the medieval road from Saint-Émilion to Guitres. The property is located on what was the historic village of Pomerol, the hamlet of Pignon, north of the Pomerol appellation.

The vineyard
The vineyard of Château La Fleur de Gay extends over 2 hectares of vines and benefits from a very large terroir typical of the Pomerol appellation. The vines are located on 3 plots of the high terrace of Pomerol. The vines are planted on plots of pure Lafleur clay (4%), on Günzian gravel plots resting on Gay clay (57%) and high granulometry gravel plots on Groupey clay (39%).

The vintage
For this 2019 vintage, the harvest at Château La Fleur de Gay took place on September 18 and 19 with the merlots, ending on September 30 with the cabernet francs. 7,500 bottles were produced for this 2019 vintage.

Vinification and aging
Aging in barrels (75% new, 25% of one wine).

Blend
Merlot (89%), cabernet franc (11%).
