Description

The style of a fine red wine from Pomerol

The estate
Owned by the Raynaud-Lebreton family and with origins dating back to 1477, Chateau La Fleur de Gay is located on the medieval road from Saint-Emilion to Guitres. The property is set in what was once the historic village of Pomerol, the hamlet of Pignon, north of the Pomerol appellation.

The vineyard
The Chateau La Fleur de Gay vineyard covers 2 hectares of vines on a fantastic terroir typical of the Pomerol appellation. The vines are planted in 3 plots on the high terrace of Pomerol. The vines stretch their roots into soils of pure clay from Lafleur (4%), Gunzian gravel on clay (57%) and grainy gravel on Groupey clay (39%).

The vintage
For this 2019 vintage, the harvest of Chateau La Fleur de Gay took place on September 18 and 19 with the Merlot and ended on September 30 with the Cabernet Franc. 7,500 bottles were produced in this 2019 vintage.

The blend
Merlot (89%), cabernet franc (11%).

The aging
75% New French oak barrels - 25% Barrels of one wine.
