The brilliance and richness of a red wine from Pomerol

The estate

Owned by the Casteja family since 2005, Château La Croix du Casse is considered to be a very important reference in the Pomerol appellation, on the right bank of Bordeaux. Equipped with high-technology tools and boasting an exceptional vineyard, the property stands out for its great Pomerol wines, which are full of charm and a seductive expression of their appellation.

The vineyard

Located at the southern tip of the Pomerol plateau, the Château La Croix du Casse vineyard extends over a terroir characteristic of the appellation, comprising gravel and ancient sand soils upon a subsoil containing a significant proportion of iron (crasse de fer).

The blend

Château La Croix du Casse 2017 comprises a blend of Merlot (94%) and Cabernet Franc (6%).

Wine Advocate-Parker :
Fifty percent of the vineyards for this wine were affected by frost this year. The 2017 La Croix du Casse, a blend of 94% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc, is medium garnet-purple in color with a lovely nose of wilted roses and violets with touches of spice box and Provence herbs over a core of red currants and blackberries plus a waft of fertile loam. The palate is medium-bodied, soft and plush with a racy acid line lifting the floral-accented fruit on the finish.
