Description
The typicality of Pomerol expressed in an exceptional wine
The estate
A true legend of the Pomerol appellation, Chateau La Conseillante is one of the most beautiful references on the Right Bank of the Bordeaux region. Acquired by the Nicolas family in 1871, Chateau La Conseillante has created a series of exceptional vintages through the centuries.
The vineyard
The 11.8 hectares of the prestigious Chateau La Conseillante vineyard are planted in gray clay soils and gravelly sand in the heart of Pomerol. The vines are around 35 years old.
The vintage
2019 was characterized by a mild winter and a cool spring. The hot, dry summer allowed the fruit to ripen fully. An ideal autumn season was punctuated by a few rainy days.
The winemaking
5 days pre-fermentation cold maceration. Fermentation for 4 weeks. 5% of production in “vinification intégrale”
The aging
22 epoxy coated concrete tanks, fully thermo-regulated. 70% aged in new French oak barrels, 27% in barrels of one previous wine and 3% in amphorae.
The blend
Merlot (84%), cabernet franc (16%).
The tasting
The Chateau La Conseillante 2019 is a typical Pomerol wine with a seductive side. The nose reveals ripe fruit enhanced by floral and spicy notes. La Conseillante 2019 is a vibrant wine promising a remarkable potential for age.
