2008 Pauillac 5e Cru Classe fromp Bordeaux
Chateau Haut-Batailley is located in the prestigious Pauillac appellation. The vineyard is bordered with notable Saint-Julien and Saint-Estèphe terroirs, as well as the Gironde estuary. The 2008 Chateau Haut-Batailley blend is mainly Cabernet Sauvignon (highest concentration), Merlot, and Petit Verdot.
This complex and persistent vintage from Bordeaux reveals an intense ruby hue and black fruits bouquet with commanding currant. The palate offers lovely attack, very aromatic, with lots of fruits and beautifully complex. Superb persistence attests to the superior character of this rare wine. This Paulliac shows outstanding balance, yet requires several years of keep before revealing all its charm.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
Tasted at a vertical tasting at the château. The 2008 Haut Batailley is service back to normal after the rather lacklustre 2007. It has a well defined, blackberry, minerally nose that has a sense of brightness and vivacityùa vivid set of aromatics that entice you inwards. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp and focused with great tension and energy. I appreciate the purity embroidered into this wine from start to finish, the manner in which it gently fans out towards the long and precise finish. Excellent for the vintage, this is probably very good value in today's market. Tasted July 2016.
