Description
A Rhone Valley white wine vinified as a Vin de France that reveals the Guffens signature style
The estate
Chateau des Tourettes is an estate owned by the iconic Maconnais wine producers, Maine and Jean-Marie Guffens. It is located on the Apt plateau, in the Rhone Valley. The couple has completely reorganized the vineyard in order to make it an ideal terroir for the production of white wines.
The vineyard
Thanks to the vineyard’s new landscape design and in particular the replanting of massal selections, Chateau des Tourettes is an estate that comprises a very nice terroir in the Rhone Valley, located at 400 meters of altitude. The soil is limestone-rich. The grapes come mainly from the plot on the Aigle plateau.
Vinification and aging
Following manual harvesting, a pressing with selection of the juices is carried out in order to keep only the first juices and to preserve a very good acidity. The wine is aged in barrels, 25% of which are new, for 8 months on its lees and then 10 months on fine lees.
The blend
Chardonnay (100%).
