The estate

Located north of the Médoc, on the hill of Saint-Estèphe, the Château Cos d’Estournel appears majestically. Like a true Maharajah’s palace, the château and its pagodas surprise and captivate the eye. In 1791, Louis-Gaspard d’Estournel inherited hectares of vines and built the estate. An adventurer who had traveled the world, his taste for the exotic and the Orient earned Château Cos d’Estournel this singular architecture in the Médoc. Owned by Michel Reybier since 2000, Château Cos d’Estournel continues to shine within the Saint-Estèphe appellation and joins the ranks of the world’s greatest wines, distinguished by its unique style in which a love of beauty and excellence is a constant pursuit.

The vineyard

A benchmark among the great Saint-Estèphe wines, Château Cos d’Estournel enjoys an exceptional geographical location. Its vineyard lies on the edge of a plateau, in the immediate vicinity of the Gironde estuary. The vineyard thus benefits from a maritime climate while being protected from inclement weather. The vines are planted on two hillsides and a central plateau, benefiting from ideal exposure and good ventilation.

The wine

Cos d’Estournel 2015 comes from only 39% of the total harvest produced by the estate that year. In other words, a strict selection of lots from the finest terroirs, planted with vines averaging 55 years of age.

Château Cos d’Estournel unveils a case of 3 bottles of this 2015 vintage crafted exclusively from paulownia, a wood renowned for its balance of lightness and strength.

After 8 years of evolution in bottle at the estate, each of these bottles is released to market at an ideal drinking window.
