Bordeaux often produces great fine wines in the years ending with "5" (45, 55, 75, 85, 95, 2005) and the 2015 could be among those. The 2015 Chateau Carbonnieux comes from 75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Semillon. The varietals were harvested between August 27th and September 15th 2015. On the nose, this Pessac-Leognan offers a clear, frank and pure aromatic expression of white fruits, on quite bold fragrances of verbena tea and dried linden-tree. The palate is precise and dynamic with a sensation of freshness and balance that confer harmony to this Chateau Carbonnieux. After the attack, the mid-palate is quite sappy (freshness again) with a full-body for a very light whole, lingering on the finish. It is a successful white wine with an aromatic and tasty freshness that gives it appetence.
Wine Advocate-Parker :
The 2015 Carbonnieux Blanc is a blend of 75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Semillon. It has a tightly wound grapefruit, white peach and citrus scented bouquet that slowly unfurls in the glass. Given a couple of minutes, it attains impressive harmony and focus. The palate is well defined on the entry, very crisp and pure, seguing into a saline finish that lingers nicely in the mouth. This is a very well-crafted Carbonnieux Blanc with class and poise.
