Description
The estate
Chateau Cap de Faugeres is a wine estate based in Sainte-Colombe and classified under the Castillon Cotes de Bordeaux appellation.
The vineyard
The 46-hectare vineyard of the Chateau Cap de Faugeres is planted in clay-limestone soils similar to those of Saint-Emilion. The vineyard is managed with sustainable agriculture.
The vintage
2019 was a landmark vintage at Chateau Cap de Faugeres. The first part of the year turned out to be cool and damp and was followed by the arrival of a very hot summer. The clay-limestone soils perfectly fulfilled their role, saving the vines from too much water stress during the second part of the year. This allowed the vines to fully bloom and the fruit to reach perfect maturity in time for the harvest.
The winemaking
Manual harvest from September 19 to October 8. Fermentation from 25 to 30 days.
The aging
Aging for 12 months in stainless steel tanks.
The blend
Merlot (85%), cabernet franc (15%)
The tasting
Tasted as a wine future, the Chateau Cap de Faugeres 2019 offers a superb expression of the Castillon terroir. This very harmonious vintage combines elegance, generosity and bright fruit, which linger on a fresh and very aromatic finish.
