Description
Revered as one of the best wines of Cotes de Castillon, the Chateau Cap de Faugeres 2017 confirms the ranking of this estate as one of the most outstanding in its appellation.
Located in the commune of Sainte-Colombe in the Castillon Cotes de Bordeaux appellation, Chateau Cap de Faugeres manages a 46-hectare vineyard benefiting from a superb terroir of clay-limestone hillsides extending from the Saint-Emilion plateau, east of Bordeaux.
While the disastrous frost of April 2017 did indeed hit the vineyard of the Chateau Cap de Faugeres, fortunately, the great terroirs of the property were quite fortunate. The natural selection brought about by the frost, coupled with the extreme care provided by the vineyard team of Silvio Denz (supervised by the consultant oenologist Michel Rolland), has offered the best of this new vintage in a great wine, the Chateau Cap de Faugeres 2017.
The blend is dominated by the grape variety that best matches the chateau's terroir, Merlot (85%), along with Cabernet Franc (10%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%).
Presenting an aromatic profile dominated by fruit, Chateau Cap de Faugeres 2017 shows a beautiful structure on the palate and a balance between freshness and density upon elegant tannins. A must-have Castillon-Cotes de Bordeaux with a promising future.
