Decanter

Gorgeous aromatics of iodine, pencil lead, graphite, liquorice and cola. Juicy and clean, this is silky-smooth with fine tannins that turn towards a fairly salty grip on the finish. The cooling blue fruit becomes more serious and it ends with some compaction. It still feels stylish and a true expression of the vineyard. There’s ripeness here too, lots going on. Packed with flavour, with limestone grip all the way through. A sure buy!

Bright, fresh, floral, and vibrant, the strawberries, cherries, and plums are already expressive on the nose and on the mineral-edged palate. You can enjoy this on release and for up to a decade after release. Drink from 2027–2039. 89–91 pts

Le Figaro Vin

A touch austere, the nose reveals a few red and black fruit aromas, like subliminal messages. Intense and fleshy, the palate shows fine volume, carried by velvety tannins. The black fruit is well defined and the fresh, slightly tangy backbone brings energy to the finish, highlighted by intense peppery notes.

Description

A Canon-Fronsac wine with a delicate balance offreshness and concentration

The estate
Established in the late 1940s by the Pécresse family, Château Canon Pécresse is located on the slopes of Saint-Michel-de-Fronsac, in the heart of the Canon-Fronsac appellation. Since 2023, the Labrune (Château de La Dauphine) and Pécresse families have joined forces to showcase this terroir.

The vineyard
The vines of Château Canon Pécresse thrive on a 4-hectare limestone plateau within the Canon-Fronsac appellation. This exceptional terroir is a true geological extension of the Saint-Émilion plateau. The vines, averaging 30 years old, benefit from rigorous biodynamic management that respects the natural balance of this privileged environment.

The vintage
The 2024 vintage is characterized by a late harvest marked by significant rainfall that influenced the vegetative cycle. The clay soils fared better under the contrasting climatic conditions. The harvest took place from September 24 to October 4, resulting in expressive and balanced musts despite these climatic challenges.

Vinification and aging
Vinification emphasizes meticulous parcel-based work with manual pump-overs and the use of the Rpulse technique. After hydraulic vertical pressing and juice separation, the malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels. The aging is carried out in a harmonious combination of barrels, 20-hectoliter foudres, and amphorae, allowing the separation of juice fractions to preserve the aromatic complexity of each parcel.

Blend
This 2024 Château Canon Pécresse is the result of a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
