Description
2018 was an exceptional vintage for the Grand Cru Classe of Pauillac, located on the left bank of Bordeaux, Chateau Batailley.
After a difficult beginning to the year, marked by a very rainy spring and a strong mildew pressure due to late blight in July, a beautiful summer followed, bringing with it plenty of sunshine for 4 months. This helped the fruit to ripen fully. The harvest took place between September 18th and October 9th, yielding grapes whose quality foreshadowed an exceptional vintage.
Blending Cabernet Sauvignon (74%), Merlot (23%) and Petit Verdot (3%), the Chateau Batailley 2018 offers a great expression of a Pauillac grand vin. 2018 produced wines of a dark and deep color. The nose seduces with its intense aromas, underlined by the presence of fruit. The palate is powerful and opulent, revealing a massive structure with tannins already perfectly smooth and stretching into a long finish. An exceptional vintage, the Chateau Batailley 2018 foreshadows a brilliant future ahead of it, made possible by a great aging potential.
