The estate
The name Château Batailley refers to the Hundred Years' War, when a battle was fought on the estate in 1453. Château Batailley became a wine estate in the 17th century. This 5th Cru Classé in 1855 is produced in the Pauillac appellation, on Bordeaux’s Left Bank.
The vineyard
Château Batailley 2015 is a Pauillac wine from a 60-hectare vineyard planted on gravelly soil.
Winemaking and ageing
Fermentation and maceration over 25 days in small temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The wine was aged exclusively in barrels (55% new, 45% of one wine) for 18 months.
Blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (77%), Merlot (20%) and Petit Verdot (3%)
