Description
The delicacy and precision of an exceptional dry white Bordeaux wine
The property
Founded in the 18th century and acquired in 1917 by the Cordier family, Château Talbot is a prestigious vineyard located in Saint-Julien-Beychevelle, on the left bank of Bordeaux. Today led by Nancy Bignon-Cordier, with Jean-Pierre Marty and Jean-Michel Laporte, the estate is recognized for its subtle, intense and balanced wines.
The vineyard
Le Caillou Blanc comes from a 6.2-hectare vineyard dedicated to the production of this dry white Bordeaux wine, planted on Médoc gravels. The vines, averaging 45 years old, rest on a limestone base with asterias. This plot, rare in the Médoc mainly dedicated to red wines, testifies to the pioneering vision of the Cordier family.
Vinification and aging
Hand harvesting followed by 100% barrel vinification, of which 30% are new. The aging continued for 8 months on lees with regular stirring, according to a method inspired by Burgundian techniques. This approach gives the wine its creamy texture and aromatic complexity while preserving the freshness of the fruit.
Grape varieties
Le Caillou Blanc 2024 is made from a blend of sauvignon blanc (83%) and sémillon (17%).
