The estate

For more than 250 years, the Weingut Dönnhoff has watched over a unique terroir of vertiginous hillsides on the banks of the Nahe river.

Helmut Dönnhoff produces, year after year, fine German wines from a patchwork of terroirs that truly express the complexity, purity and multiple nuances of the Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris varietals.

The vineyard

With a surface area of 25 hectares, the terroir of the Weingut Dönnhoff is unique due to its array of soils and sun exposures, offering ideal conditions for the grapes to reach optimal maturity. The low-yielding vines, which are between 20 and 70 years old, are meticulously nurtured and produce high-quality grapes.

The wine

Classified as VDP Grosse Lage, this Nahe wine is made from 15-45-year-old vines that are planted on steep terraces with soils composed of slate and weathered volcanic rock (porphyry). This natural rocky terroir protects the vineyard and enables it reach a good level of maturity.
