The Estate

Originally from the Penedès region, the Torres Family has continually expanded throughout Spain. Today, it owns more than 1,300 hectares of vineyards, spread across several estates located in the heart of the country's most prestigious wine regions.

The Wine

Mas La Plana, first produced with the 1970 vintage, has become a legendary wine, embodying Bodega Torres's excellence in the eyes of the world. This wine has been honored time and again by the greatest critics, showcasing the full character of Cabernet Sauvignon grown on a unique terroir at the heart of the D.O Penedès appellation.

The Vineyard

On the Torres family's land in Catalonia, in northern Spain, the 29 hectares of the Mas La Plana vineyard are planted on deep, well-drained alluvial soils, allowing the vines to thrive under the best possible conditions.

Winemaking and Aging

The wine undergoes skin maceration for 15 to 25 days, followed by a 7-day alcoholic fermentation carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and oak vats, at temperatures ranging between 25 and 28°C. Aging continues for 18 months, mainly in French oak barrels (91%), with a small proportion in 30 hl vats (5%) and stainless steel tanks (4%). Notably, 61% of the barrels used are new. Bottling took place in August 2021.
