"Santa Duc combines the muscle, richness and fire of a classic Gigondas with a degree of elegance and purity that many wines of this appellation lack’’. Such was the critic Robert Parker's review regarding the estate's wines in the early 2000s.
Founded in 1874, the family estate located in the foothills of the Dentelles de Montmirail produces fine Rhône Valley wines. Following in the footsteps of his father, Edmond, Yves Gras started to instill organic farming practices in his vineyard in 1985 and has greatly contributed to the development of the reputation of Gigondas wines beyond borders.
For six generations now, the Gras family has been highlighting the nuances and identity of the finest terroirs within the most emblematic appellations such as Gigondas, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, or from the Côtes du Rhône through its wines.
Benjamin Gras is a graduate oenologist from the University of Burgundy in Dijon and has a wealth of experience within illustrious wine estates (Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Bodega Vega-Sicilia). He converted the entire estate to biodynamic farming in 2016.
Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah and Cinsault are all grape varieties that thrive on a mosaic of terroirs. Yves Gras and his son Benjamin manage with passion and exacting standards.
