Description
Grange 2012 of Penfolds : a fresh and refined Australian red wine
Grange is the iconic cuvée of the Australian Penfolds estate. This wine benefits from the remarkable synergy between the soils and climates of Southern Australia. The Grange 2012 of Penfolds blends 98% Shiraz and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. The aging of the wine is carried out for 18 months, exclusively in new American hogsheads oak barrels.
The Grange 2012 of Penfolds displays a dense and imposing dark red color. Exuberant and lively, the nose initially develops seductive aromas of fermentation and balsamic notes from barrel aging. You will then notice more spicy fragrances of soy, tomato purée, black olives and licorice. Next the aromas of exotic fruits, extracts of tiramisu, mascarpone and sabayon appear, followed by subtle notes of roasted hazelnuts and ground coffee beans. Fresh and refined on the palate, the wine reveals flavors of red licorice, reduced sauce and black olive tapenade. This wine is deep, offering a complete structure, with dense tannins, a long length on the palate and a great richness of red fruits.
