Description
A seductive Oregon red wine with powerful and rich flavours
The estate
The Nicolas Jay winery sprang from the friendship between Jean-Nicolas Méo, a Burgundian winemaker and Jay Boberg, an American music producer.
Located in the heart of the North Willamette Valley in Oregon, the estate tends to a terroir composed mainly of old vines. Moreover, relationships with partner winegrowers, who farm their vineyards organically and biodynamically, ensure the supply of high-quality grapes.
The vineyard
Nicolas Jay's 2018 Bishop Creek Pinot Noir is a Yamhill-Carlton District wine that is made from a vineyard composed of, on average, over 30-year-old vines.
The blend
Pinot Noir (100%).
Bishop Creek Pinot Noir 2018 by Nicolas Jay: Characteristics and tasting tips
The tasting
Nose
The nose blends fragrances of wet stone and crushed granite with savoury fruit notes (blackberries).
Palate
With a beautiful minerality, the palate reveals all its complexity throughout the tasting. Aromas of roasted meat, game and grilled nuts blend with subtle spicy, bark and blackberry notes. The powerful tannins weave into a lingering finish.
